Why I started

It was a birthday present for DP, who loves fishing and always checks 10+ websites to decide where he’s going to drive to, because the coast is at least an hour away.

Who it’s for

Any surf fisher.

Odd facts

The name

PhD is a play on doctor, replacing the F in surf; Dx for diagnosis/decision.

Who tried it first

DP tried it and used it for much of the season.

One number

15 data sources.

What got cut

The small AI summary used more tokens than I estimated, and I wasn’t in the mood to investigate and refine, so it got dropped.

What it taught me

How easy it was to build useful software. My professional work is much more complex and slower to materialize.

What’s next

Following the recommendation of AI and adding the feeding stats really made it wonky; I’ve been meaning to drop them.
